Reptilia Education & Conservation Foundation
Standing up for Ontario’s reptiles and amphibians.
A new Toronto foundation set up to fund conservation in the wild and in care, back the research that guides it, and open the door to nature education for kids, here in Ontario and around the world.

Who we are
Conservation that starts in Ontario and reaches around the world.
The Reptilia Education and Conservation Foundation (RECF) is a new Toronto-based charity managed by Reptilia. We were set up to direct support to the people and programs protecting reptiles and amphibians, from Ontario’s wetlands and rock barrens to conservation partners overseas.
Our work pairs in situ conservation, protecting animals and their habitat in the wild, with ex situ conservation, caring for and breeding at-risk species under human care. Alongside both, we invest in research and make sure kids can access the nature education that builds the next generation of conservationists.
What we support
Four ways your support makes a difference.
01
Conservation in Ontario
Protecting native reptiles and amphibians in the wild, and supporting care and recovery programs for at-risk species.
02
Programs around the world
Backing conservation partners and field projects beyond Canada, where reptiles and amphibians face growing pressure.
03
Research
Funding the field work and studies that tell us which species need help, and which actions actually work.
04
Education for kids
Opening up access to hands-on nature education, so every child can meet, understand and care about wildlife.
Why it matters
Nearly every one of Ontario’s native turtle species is now listed as at risk.
Road mortality, habitat loss and illegal collection are pushing reptiles and amphibians closer to the edge. Protecting them in the wild, and building safety nets in care, can’t wait.
